Thus, the A340 was born, along with the slogan “4 engines 4 long haul.” A certain British airline - that “flag carrier” with the red tail – popularized the phrase by painting it on the fuselage and engines of its A340s, including the A340-600 emblazoned on our 4 Engines 4 Long Haul t-shirt.
